The Plantation

With items dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, this collection includes a range of artefacts from the Plantation Period through to the 1798 Rebellion.

There is also a late-18th century Gorget, a Dragoon helmet and Betsy Gray Family heirlooms on display.

The Raven Maps

A key part of the Plantation Collection are the Raven Maps, named after the cartographer, Thomas Raven. Commissioned by Bangor’s founder, James Hamilton, back in 1626, after he decided to map out the lands he’d acquired from King James I, the Raven Maps are the only complete folio of Plantation-era maps remaining in Ireland.
