Museum Opening Hours and Accessibility
Plan ahead to enjoy your museum experience to the full.
North Down Museum is open throughout the year, with free admission for all visitors. Please see our stated opening hours and note that we are closed on Mondays and Bank Holidays.
Parking
The museum has free parking which is located within our grounds in Castle Park.
Accessibility
North Down Museum is fully accessible for people with disabilities. If you have any special requirements, however, please contact us ahead of your visit so we can ensure that all of your needs are met and that your trip is as enjoyable as possible.
- Accessible parking:
There are three blue badge parking spaces in the car park, which are located approximately 150 yards from the museum’s main entrance. - Assistance dogs:
We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs inside the museum. However, while our staff love all dogs, we cannot permit non-assistance dogs in the museum or courtyard as this is a council bye-law that we must enforce. - Wheelchair access:
This is available throughout the public areas of the museum on the ground floor and first floor. - Lift access:
A lift is available from our ground floor to our first floor. - Accessible toilet:
This is located on the ground floor and is fitted with a Radar Lock.
Buddy Card Scheme
If you have a disability and require assistance to attend events, then you can apply for a Buddy Card which allows the ‘Buddy’ of your choice to accompany you for free. At Ards and North Down Borough Council, we encourage people with a disability to attend our arts and heritage events and we hope our Buddy Card scheme makes doing so a little easier.
You can pick up a Buddy Card application pack at the following venues:
- North Down Museum
- Ards Arts Centre
- Any of Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Visitor Information Centres
You can also request a Buddy Card application pack by contacting North Down Museum on 028 9127 1200 or emailing: museum@ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk
