Percy French

The celebrated Irish entertainer Percy French is best remembered for his most famous song The Mountains of Mourne, but he was also an acclaimed poet, writer, humourist, and artist.

At North Down Museum, we have a vast array of Percy French memorabilia, which has been generously donated by the Percy French Society, after a successful 25 year collaboration with the museum.

This eclectic collection includes around 90 watercolours and 800 items, including letters, song sheets, diaries, photographs, manuscripts, and musical instruments.
