Reflections will feature textile works by MaP (Makers and Practitioners), a collective of artists and designers from Northern Ireland, Wales, and Finland. Hosted by Prof. Jane McCann.

Textiles group MaP (Makers and Practitioners) presents a group show celebrating 20 years of exhibiting. To mark their anniversary, each current member has created a piece at 22x22cm. Techniques such as dyeing, embroidery, felting and garment design have been used, and the final works reference Welsh and Irish landscapes, folk dancing from Finland and much more.

Reflections includes ‘Zoom Selfies’ inspired by the group’s online meetings during the pandemic. The idea of producing a piece based on images of themselves as viewed on a computer screen resulted in individual works which can be viewed as a collaborative project.

In recognition of the significance of past collaborations, there will be a varied collection of earlier works on show.

Founded in 2001, MaP is an innovative group of Artists and Designers with a focus on textiles. The group currently has 10 members: from Wales, Northern Ireland and Finland. Their 'Wool Works' project was shown at Craft in the Bay, Cardiff in 2019 before briefly touring to Finland. Due to come to Belfast before the pandemic, it will be at the Craft NI Gallery in Belfast 7 July to 28 July 2022.
