A solo exhibition of photography by David McKinney

"I hope that it is only a short time until the tide turns". In reply my friend David texted his last words to me; "Thanks David, wave getting bigger....I'm ok". Two weeks later he was gone, lost to everyone. This exchange has shaped the visual expression of my exhibition and is the foundation of its title.

This project, by Co. Antrim based artist David McKinney, uses the digital transformation of coastal photographs to create contemporary high-contrast and monochrome imagery to convey themes of hypervigilance and loss surrounding suicide, and its impact on families.

In a region with the highest suicide rate in the UK, this exhibition aims to shine a light on mental health and suicide awareness. This exhibition aims to foster awareness, dialogue, and stigma reduction through the narrative of photography.

This exhibition is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Exhibition Open Reception: Thurs 2 Oct, 7-9pm
