A solo exhibition of paintings by Rachel McBride

Rachel McBride's creative process focuses on communicating feelings and emotions through large abstract works. Preferring the work to visually speak for itself, each piece will evoke different emotions in the individual viewer.

Describing her work for this exhibition, Rachel says:

"Often my work encompasses deep underlying thought-provoking subjects such as mental health or disability; this exhibition will, on the surface, be a polar opposite, looking at self-expression and focusing on the paint as subject matter.

Looking at the area of self expression, millions of people across the world use a familiar way to express themselves - makeup. I will use inspiration from the vivid colour palette of MAC Makeup - a fusion of vibrant colour juxtaposed with their colour titles, to create daring artworks which will reflect beauty and independence, as well as challenging stereotypes. Do they use it as a mask or disguise, a way to show individualism, or simply a way to blend in & unite?"

You are invited to join us for an exhibition opening reception on Thurs 27 Oct from 7pm - 9pm
