Take a tour of Bangor Castle on European Heritage Open Day.
Bangor Castle, now the City Hall, dates from 1852. It was built for the Hon. Robert Edward Ward, landlord of much of Bangor. North Down Museum is housed in the former laundry and stables of the main building.
European Heritage Open Day is an annual free event. There will be guided tours of Bangor Castle offering a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes of this beautiful building. Your tour will cover the ground floor of the castle and include rooms such as the music salon, dining room, drawing room and library.
Hear about the family who lived here and how they developed the demesne to include Castle Park and the lovely Walled Garden. Make a day of it and visit North Down Museum – have refreshments in our café – Coffee Cure, look around our exhibitions or purchase a unique memento of your visit in our shop. The delightful Walled Garden is also only a short stroll away.
