Experience the Magic of Christmas with Festive Arts Events in Ards and North Down
Experience the magic of Christmas in Ards and North Down with a wonderful programme of festive arts events brought to you by Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Arts and Heritage Service. This year’s line-up includes creative workshops, family entertainment and two special Christmas shopping experiences to help everyone get into the festive spirit.
Kicking off the festive programme on Thursday 20 November, North Down Museum’s Made in AND Pop-Up Christmas Shop opens its doors. The museum’s galleries will be beautifully decorated and filled with stunning, handmade products - an ideal place to find unique gifts while supporting talented local artists. The shop is free to explore during museum opening hours and continues until Sunday 4 January.
On Thursday 27 November, the museum will host a Twilight Shopping Event within the Pop-Up Christmas Shop. Visitors can browse the galleries, purchase handcrafted presents, enjoy live music, and watch demonstrations by local makers. This free event offers the perfect opportunity to soak up the seasonal atmosphere.
The festive fun continues with the Creative Peninsula Christmas Fayre, returning to Ards Arts Centre on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December. This exclusive showcase features beautiful artwork and handcrafted items created by the Creative Peninsula Artists. Visitors can browse and buy unique pieces made right here in Ards and North Down, while enjoying seasonal music, complimentary gift wrapping, and festive refreshments. The Christmas Fayre runs from 4pm to 8pm on Friday 5 December and 10am to 4pm on Saturday 6 December.
Families are in for a treat with The Christmassy Christmas Show of Christmassy Christmasness at Queen’s Hall, Newtownards, on Saturday 29 November at 3pm. This delightful performance celebrates everything Christmassy - from fairy lights and sleigh bells to puddings and carols! Overflowing with puppets, songs, slapstick comedy, and festive fun, this Squashbox Theatre show promises laughter for the whole family. Tickets are £10, and the show is suitable for children aged 4 and over.
Children can also enjoy North Down Museum’s Moo-sical Christmas Adventure on Saturday 6 December, lively sessions full of festive songs, actions, and sparkly surprises for little ones aged 6 and under (£5.50 per child). On the same day, the museum will host Christmas Gift Workshops for children aged 7 and over, where they can craft a special handmade gift for someone they love (£7.50 per child). Booking is required for both of these events.
Emily Crawford, Arts and Heritage Manager for Ards and North Down Borough Council, said:
