Musicians from the Ulster Orchestra are delighted to perform at another gorgeous evening of music in Bangor Abbey.
Whether you're new to orchestral music or a regular concertgoer, you'll find plenty to enjoy in this programme for string and brass ensembles, suffused with the glowing sun of Midsummer.
Players from the orchestra’s brass section have curated an uplifting selection, while musicians from our string section perform Ravel’s elegant and glowing string quartet. It opens gently, full of cycling melodies that conjure up the motion of a rippling stream in the sun. The central movements owe more to shade than sun, flitting in and out of eerie shadow, before bursting out into glorious rays of light at the quartet’s end.
You’ll also enjoy a selection of melodies arranged by the Danish String Quartet for their album Keel Road, a journey through traditional music of Northern Europe from Denmark and Norway to the Faroe Islands, and to Ireland and England.
