North Down Museum has over 1,000 vintage and historical postcards in its collection, featuring scenes and images from all across the borough.
The video below was created as part of a project using NI Museums Council’s Recovery Grant which was funded by the Art Fund and marries old postcard scenes from Bangor, Ballywalter and Donaghadee with the same locations in the present day. As you can see, some places have changed but some have really stayed the same!
Digitisation of the entire postcard collection is currently underway, which will give everyone the chance to access it in the future. The museum is always looking to expand its collection so if you have any old postcards that you’d like to donate, please get in touch: museum@ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk
We hope you enjoy the video.
