The Space Between

The Space Between : This exhibition is an exploration into the processes Ballard uses in her landscape painting, exploring those processes of abstraction, processes that serve to represent the blurred memories we have of places and allows the artist to create a new ‘unreal’ landscape. Lisa creates these imagined landscape paintings that look beyond the physical landscapes to draw on her emotional experience and memory of place, pushing towards abstraction.  

Traveling has been vital to Ballard’s personal exploration of painting as a medium, which has been inaccessible in these last few years. This exhibition shows a selection of work inspired by locations Lisa has visited, both near and far.   

Alongside these works a new series of ceramics will be shown, exploring Ballard’s mark making on 3D ceramic objects, bringing a new element to Lisa's work, exploring a deeper and more multi-faceted interpretation of landscape.
