The past couple of years has reinforced the need to find comfort and stability. It has brought home to many the importance of ‘making’ and an awareness of the value to be found in it. Engaging with hand embroidery processes, seems to illicit connections to, and notions of, domesticity, together with ‘place’ and home.

With the backdrop of reflective thinking and reflexive making, the artists celebrate the experimental nature of embroidery in new art works. Exploring themes of absence, identity, and belonging, place and environment, narration and storytelling which allows them to explore macro issues in a micro intimate way.
