During the 19th and 20th centuries, high quality linen and lace produced in Ulster was much sought after and sold around the world.

In Newtownards, the linen, lacemaking and embroidery industries were a popular source of employment for those living in and around the town, most especially for women who could complete much of the work at home.

In this exhibition, Ards Historical Society will explore the role Newtownards played in the Ulster textile industries and display some of the many delicate and intricate items collected by its members and their families over the years.
