All Daughters is a collection of abstract paintings in response to the young women who have found support and refuge by the Hope and Light charity.
We are pleased to reopen Ards Arts Centre to the public again, following a six-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sharon Canning's exhibition, ALL DAUGHTERS, opened in our Sunburst Gallery in March but then closed when the building was temporarily closed to the public.
We are delighted to give visitors a second chance to visit this beautiful exhibition when we reopen from Monday 28 September.
As nearly 1.2 million children are trafficked in South-East Asia every year, Sharon’s work intends to encapsulate the trauma these strong girls have been subjected to, but also the hope that safe work and security can bring. Abstract and minimalistic, using careful and refined palettes and mark-making to convey the emotional experiences, Sharon’s work delicately and tastefully communicates each girls testimony. Working closely with ‘Hope and Light Jewellery’, each painting will be accompanied with a piece of jewellery made by the individual and a small extract from their story
