Carrie Davenport will facilitate this full day, extensive photography workshop specifically for visual artists and craftspeople to show you how to capture and share great photographs of your artwork/handcrafted products – no matter what type of camera you have.

Having high quality images of your work is an essential part of working as a visual artist or maker and is something that every artist/maker should invest in.

Whether you sell your artworks or products online, wish to stand out on social media, are creating an artist portfolio or product catalogue for wholesale, making funding applications, or applying for exhibitions or other opportunities, high quality photographs are a must.

Product photoshoots can cost hundreds of pounds, so why not learn the necessary skills to take your own quality photographs as and when you require them?

This workshop will cover:

  • Taking Your Photographs – Why good photographs are so important - especially when standing out online for sales or for applications and open calls - tips on composition, setting up your image, setting up your camera, best lighting, props, and what NOT to do. Participants will practice having a go at taking images with their own camera.
  • Editing and Sharing – How to edit your photographs and what software to use, file storage, file types, sharing images, the benefits of an Electronic Press Kit (EPK), and tips on some inexpensive equipment to pick up.

Carrie Davenport is a Belfast based freelance photographer, specialising in event, portrait and commercial photography with almost 20 years experience.  She has worked for a range of publications and companies and regular clients including BBC NI, Prince's Trust, Reuters, and many local businesses and charities.
