For this exhibition Kilcooley Women’s Centre joined with textile artist and tutor, Sharon Ferguson to build on a long-standing commitment within the community to create platforms for women to explore individual creativity. Sharon drew on her international design experience to encourage new skills and self-expression for all the participants as they explored the project theme of ‘Journeys’.

Through their work they explored how to translate their ideas through stitch, fabric manipulation and embellishment. The work produced by each of the women has individual style and strong technique. They have gone on a journey of confidence and produced work to be proud of.

Kilcooley Women’s Centre was founded in 1995 with the aim of developing opportunities for women in the local community to meet together and gain access to beneficial services that focus on education and wellbeing. In recent years the Centre has extensively developed its remit to offer services to women and families across the Ards and North Down Area.
